Testimonials

As the director of an after-school program, I am always searching for innovative solutions to address daily challenges: managing student behavior, helping children cope with stress, and creating a positive, supportive environment. The Mindful Star Program has met these challenges and exceeded my expectations in ways I hadn’t imagined.

Behavioral Improvements

Since implementing the program, I’ve witnessed remarkable improvements in student behavior across all age groups. The mindfulness techniques taught in the program—such as breathing exercises and self-awareness activities—have helped children manage their emotions more effectively. For example, students who previously struggled with outbursts or difficulty sitting still are now more focused and calm. Group leaders have reported that students think critically about their actions and practice self-discipline in ways we hadn’t seen before.

One of the program's standout features is the “Mindful Star” incentive system. It motivates children to practice mindfulness consistently and rewards them for their conscious efforts. I’ve seen students light up with pride when they earn their stars, knowing their hard work is being recognized. This positive reinforcement has been a game-changer for both our staff and students.

Emotional Regulation

The Program has given our students tools to identify and express their emotions appropriately. This sense of emotional regulation has reduced conflicts and created a more peaceful environment for learning and play.

Engagement and Enjoyment

One of my biggest concerns when adopting new programs is whether students will find them engaging. I can confidently say that the Mindful Star Program has captured their attention and enthusiasm. The interactive, age-appropriate activities keep students intrigued, while the dynamic nature of the program ensures that it remains fresh and exciting. Children look forward to these sessions each week.

Staff and Program Feedback

As a director, I value feedback from my team, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. Group leaders report that the program is easy to implement, thanks to the clear guidance and resources provided. They appreciate how it empowers children to take ownership of their behavior and fosters a sense of accountability.

The program has been praised for its flexibility and adaptability. Whether we’re working with kindergarteners or older students, the lessons can be tailored to meet their unique developmental needs. This versatility has made it a seamless addition to our after-school schedule.

The Mindful Star Program has become an invaluable part of our after-school program. It addresses many of our challenges—such as managing student behavior, supporting emotional development, and creating a nurturing environment—with practical, effective solutions. The program’s ability to combine mindfulness, emotional intelligence, and positive reinforcement has transformed how we support our students.

I highly recommend the Mindful Star Program to any after-school director looking to enhance their program and make a lasting impact on the lives of the children they serve. This program doesn’t just teach mindfulness; it inspires lasting change in behavior, emotional well-being, and overall happiness.

I has been lucky enough to be able to participate in the mindfulness class. The class and lessons are very insightful. There are many things that I apply to my life even today. I like that this class encourages children to behave better by learning how to manage their emotions and because the "best behaved" earn "mindful stars" and prizes.

I am always looking forward to seeing this program in our school, and teaching our children about their mind and the power they have over it. 100% recommended!

Mindfulness has helped students manage their behavior better, learn different ways of communicating, and better manage themselves over time. They are much better at controlling their thoughts and emotions. The kids who have the "Mindful Star" in the classroom have earned it through effort and conscious work. Accepting change is essential for moving forward every day and becoming a better person, and this program helps them accomplish that".

I have seen the positive impact that mindfulness has had on the students. Mindfulness has provided them with a new sense of peace and overall tranquility. It has not only helped them find ways to relax and control their mind, body, and emotions during class but also throughout the week. It keeps them motivated."

Mindfulness is an effective class at calming the students down and allowing them to improve their skills with self-control. Most students think critically about their actions and have shown more self-discipline.

Group Leader at Children's Arts and Science Workshops (Second Grade - P.S. 115)

Our time with the program has been both informative and very relaxing. The children are intrigued by and highly attentive to the exercises demonstrated. They have become more relaxed and at peace, learning to find greater happiness within themselves. Before the sessions, the children often had an excess of energy, leading to frequent outbursts and loud yells. However, after participating in the meditation class, they learned effective techniques and breathing exercises to manage their energy and emotions. Overall, my experience with the Mindful Star program is a huge success; the children greatly benefited from it.

Aly Hernandez

Group Leader at Children's Arts and Science Workshops (Fourth Grade - P.S. 115)

I like the program because it teaches children from a young age how to control their bodies and emotions. On some occasions, when the children are tense, learning how to relax helps them release some of that tension. Learning to breathe is important so they can learn to control themselves. I like the dynamic of the program because it motivates the children to put in their best effort and dedication every week to earn or achieve their mindful star.

Dayana Batioja

Group Leader at Children's Arts and Science Workshops (Kindergarten - P.S. 115)

Since starting the classes, the students have significantly improved their behavior because they are learning to control themselves. They no longer stand up without asking for permission as often as they used to, nor do they constantly run around. They are more independent when doing homework and like participating in the program’s activities.
